Classes to Prepare for Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond!

Full Spectrum Childbirth Education Classes

The classes below are all appropriate for people who are planning to give birth at Birth Center of Chicago. These all fulfill the requirement to attend a comprehensive childbirth education class.
Great for 1st time parents & 1st time having unmedicated birth

  • This class focuses on unmedicated birth center birth and incorporates 5 hours of instruction into either one full day class or 2 half-day classes.

  • Full spectrum CBE class taught by Third Coast Birth & Baby. Appropriate for hospital or unmedicated birth center birth.

    Weekly 6-week Option

    Full 1-Day Intensive

  • Comprehensive CBE class with hands-on pain coping strategies, mindfulness and decision making.

    4-Week nightly class or 1-Day full immersion class available.

  • Weekly 6-week hybrid class focused on evidence-based health care options. In-person for week 1 and week 6, and online through zoom on weeks 2,3,4 and 5.

  • Holistic CBE class guided by experienced doula, herbalist and mother of three. Focused on a deep dive into the physiological and emotional aspects of birth. This class is one full day class.

Movement for Labor + Refresher Classes

These class is great if you gave birth with an epidural previously, or if you have already taken a comprehensive childbirth class with a different pregnancy, but would like review. Great for experienced parents who are looking for review, or for more hands on skills for movement in birth

  • Perfect for families preparing for another baby or first-time parents looking for more dedicated time to practice for your birthing time.

  • This 3-hour course will help you learn how to prepare your body for birth with various movements, stretches, and positions. Spinning Babies® Birth Preparation Class highlights your baby’s active role in birth.

The Wrap Up Class (BCC Clients Only)

TEvery BCC client is required to take this class. We review emergency transfer procedures, communication with midwives in labor, and what to pack!
Plan to take this class between week 34-37 of your pregnancy.

  • You’re almost there! This class is specifically crafted to Birth Center Clients in their last weeks of pregnancy to review communication, emergency procedures, and information for packing and early postpartum.

Lactation Classes

Lactation classes are recommended for any family who is planning to feed their baby with their bodies. These classes help you to navigate the first months of life with your newborn and your new body. Great for first time parents

  • This class is great for first-parents who are planning to use their body to feed their infants, and are looking for an accessible introduction.

  • This 2.5 hour in-person class is ideal for first-time parents who are planning to use their body to feed their infants, and are looking for an introduction for feeding and transitioning to work.

Postpartum + Baby Preparation + Parenting Classes

These classes help with the immediate postpartum period as well as material that will help you with life once your baby is born. Great for first time parents, or for better understanding on specific topics

  • This 3-hour class will guide pregnant parents in understanding and preparing for the often forgotten postpartum period.

    Learn about the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of the postpartum experience.

  • One day in-person session to learn about newborns and how to care in the first weeks and months of life.

    Registration is for 2 people. Class is limited to 4 pairs.

  • This is a continuation of our popular Baby Basics class, but focuses on the interaction between parents/caregivers and their babies.

  • This two hour in-person class focuses on understanding newborn and infant sleep for the first year of life. This prenatal class is geared towards new parents, grandparents or caregivers who are looking to understand infant sleep from a developmental, social and biological perspective.
