Expanding Community Midwifery in Chicago
We aim to have a friendly, evidence-based approach to pregnancy, birth, and well-body care in a midwifery-led setting, where we build trust through trauma informed care, and treat people like humans instead of patients.
Birth Suites
We have two large and welcoming birth suites, and one antepartum room to greet families looking for a comfortable environment to meet their newborns safely. Both suites have a full bathroom with walk-in showers and an in-room hydrotherapy tub. We also have Swedish barres, birth chairs, and comfort methods to help you labor in your unique way.
Classes + Resources
We all need something different to feel prepared, and we want you to have access to information that fits best with your learning style. Would you like to read for yourself? Great! We have some great reading lists you might like. Curious about group classes so you can meet others in your phase of life? Let us get you connected! Want to deep dive in with experts? You may feel tickled to see our referral list that we work hard to vet and maintain. There are some requirements for childbirth education, but you are not required to take them with us!
Thoughtful Prenatal Care
Notice the difference of community midwifery care as soon as you enter our center. Welcomed with all the comforts of home, gracious staff, and an attentive care provider, you can take your time in meetings so concerns and questions are addressed to your liking. Your body and mind are nurtured as you venture closer to having a memorable experience with us.
Our two-story facility houses two large birth suites, one antepartum suite, and a full kitchen and living room on the first floor. When you come to the center for prenatal appointments, you’ll be able to enjoy the kitchen and living room while you wait and browse the shelves of our lending library and learn about any upcoming classes. We also have a cobblestone back patio where laboring people can choose to spend time outside.
Each of our birth suites is equipped with laboring tools to help you move through active labor, transitional space, and early postpartum:
large shower in the en-suite bathroom for hydrotherapy, and cozy towels warmed when you need them.
a full-submersion permanent tub in the suite for hydrotherapy, water births and postpartum herbal sitz baths
Swedish barres to help with various labor positions and comfort measures
a queen-sized bed with real linens to rest when you need it and to relax in after birth with your baby
TENS units and nitrous oxide for additional relief measures
birthing stools/birthing balls/birth swings to support upright positioning and birth
…and the extra comfort of knowing emergency tools are there too, tucked in and away from sight, but close if needed.
You’ll be able to see the second floor of our building when you come for clinical appointments, where we have 3 large rooms for appointments, and a classroom - with large windows and exposed brick. In total, there is over 5000+ square feet of indoor space!
