Tour Our Birth Center

Don’t Just Take Our Word, Come See Us!

Birth Center of Chicago is space that welcomes informed decision making and transparent prenatal care. We encourage any person looking for compassionate care to take one of our group tours where we review:

What midwife-led care looks like:

Birth Center of Chicago engages in client-centered care. Meaning, our team is committed to offering evidence-based care that seeks consent and participation in care decisions to best reach the goals of families welcoming their children in a safe environment rich in compassion. As a family moves through care with our center, there are regular prenatal appointments with transparent evaluations of health, expectations for continuing care, and informed consent.

An overview of safety measures:

On our tour, we share information about our standards of safety, our relationship with our transfer partnering hospital, Advocate Illinois Masonic, and show tools we keep in each birth suite should unplanned events happen at a birth.

A walk through of the center and birth suites:

The tour offers a walk through of the birth center, starting in our home-like living room and kitchen, and moving through the 2nd floor clinic space, and ending the locked birthing center and birth suites.

Review of risk factors that would prevent someone from receiving prenatal care at the BCC:

Every client seeking Birth Center of Chicago Care will have a risk-assessment appointment to review medical records and current health.

Items that would prevent someone from birth center care include, but are not limited to:

  • past and current health history

  • prior uterine surgery including previous cesarean birth

  • multiple gestations with this pregnancy

  • chronic health complications such as diabetes outside of pregnancy, hypertension, heart/kidney/lung/blood diseases, hyperthyroidism, near-psych disorders, seizure disorders, HIV+

  • Current, active substance or alcohol use during pregnancy

  • First time birth givers with BMI > 40 or multiparous birth givers with BMI >45

Joining one of our tours is the first step to becoming a birth client at BCC.

If you are interested in prenatal support, or looking for a location for your birth, our group tour + orientation will share what kind of support you can expect, emergency plans and partnerships to allow for ongoing safe experiences, and an in-person experience of the space where you could labor and bring your baby into the world.

Register for a group tour below! Currently, we can accommodate up to 4-5 couples in each tour. Older children are welcome to attend.
