What is the lactation clinic?

Each Monday, the Birth Center of Chicago hosts a lactation clinic with Katie Prezas of Empowering Lactation and Leah Songer of Evergreen Pediatrics. Both practices accept various insurance plans. You can learn more about their practices via the links below.

When does the lactation clinic take place?

The lactation clinic takes place weekly on Mondays during BCC clinic hours (M-Th, 9am - 5pm)

How do I sign up for the lactation clinic?

Appointments are required for the Lactation Clinic. To schedule an appointment with Empowering Lactation or Evergreen Pediatrics, please follow the links provided in the next section. Katie Prezas is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, serving families around Chicagoland. Through in-home visits and telehealth, and now at BCC, she supports new and new-again parents in breastfeeding, pumping, weaning, and everything else related to infant feeding. With an additional Certification in Perinatal Mental Health, Katie also supports the overall wellbeing of parents, understanding their emotional and mental health, and developing care plans that best align with their circumstances, helping them to achieve their feeding goals.

For families without coverage through TLN, Katie offers self-pay options (Zelle, Venmo, or credit card). Fees are due at the time your session starts, and Katie will provide you with a SuperBill for you to provide to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. 


Leah Songer is a speech language pathologist with a focus in orofacial myology. She provides feeding therapy to infants including pre/post-frenectomy care, intervention for infant feeding at the breast and from the bottle and support for transitioning to solid foods. Leah is thrilled to offer her services at the Birth Center of Chicago.

  • Feeding evaluation

  • Pre-frenectomy preparation and post-frenectomy wound care

  • Feeding therapy to establish/maintain breastfeeding/bottle feeding

Leah's practice, Evergreen Pediatric Therapy LLC, is in-network with BlueCross & BlueShield PPO only. Leah can bill other PPOs as an out-of-network provider.

Self-pay is accepted via Zelle, Venmo or credit card. Sessions are invoiced monthly and a superbill is available upon request.
