Carly Corcoran (she/her) has spent most of her life in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. She loves visiting other parts of the country and world, but Chicago will always be her home.
Carly fell quickly and deeply in love with the birth world after being a doula at a friend’s homebirth. After such a wonderful experience, she started her journey into nursing school, knowing she wanted to be a labor and delivery nurse. After graduating with her BSN, Carly landed her first job in a Labor and Delivery unit in a hospital. After several years, she was grateful for that experience but was yearning for an out-of-the-hospital setting. It became clear that her beliefs on birth and caring for clients did not always align with the hospital. She’s so thrilled to be a part of BCC.
Carly loves the friendly and welcoming team at BCC. She was drawn in by the midwife-led care committed to providing evidence-based and inclusive care to all. The care the birth center strives to give aligns with who she is and why she went into the birth setting in the first place. She says she feels like she is home!
Carly loves to camp, hike, and travel with her husband Ryan, and read a good fiction book when she is not working. She also loves a good cup of coffee. In the summer, you can find her tending to her vegetable garden or spending time with her sister foraging for edible mushrooms.
And a fun fact about Carly - she’s an avid napper. In fact, it’s one of her self-described superpowers.
